Like most website operators, V4ensics collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. V4ensics’s purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how V4ensics’s visitors use its website.

V4ensics also collects personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses for logged in users as part of the logs kept by the server for information security purposes. V4ensics only discloses visitors IP addresses as described in the relevant section below (section 5).

The cookies that are categorized as “Necessary” are stored on your browser as they are essential for enabling the basic functionalities of the site. The only necessary cookie, which is used by V4ensics, is cookieyes-consent, which is used to remember site visitors’ consent preferences so that their preferences are respected on their subsequent visits to V4ensics site. It does not collect or store any personal information of the site visitors.

V4ensics also uses third-party cookies, namely Google Analytics cookies, which help V4ensics analyze how you use this website. These cookies are only stored in your browser with your prior consent, which can be withdrawn at any time through the relevant functionality present in V4ensics site. As Google states (https://policies.google.com/technologies/cookies?hl=en-US), Google analytics uses a set of cookies to collect information and report site usage statistics without personally identifying individual visitors to Google. ‘_ga’ is the main cookie used by Google Analytics and enables a service to distinguish one visitor from another.  V4ensics.gr, as a site that uses Google Analytics, uses the ‘_ga’ cookie. Each ‘_ga’ cookie is unique to the specific property, so it cannot be used to track a given user or browser across unrelated websites.

In detail utilized by V4ensics Google Analytics cookies are:

  1. _ga: The _ga cookie calculates visitor and session data, while it also keeps track of site usage for the site’s analytics report. The cookie stores information anonymously and assigns a randomly generated number to recognize unique visitors. The cookie expires, unless erased by the user, after one year, one month and four days.
  2. _gid: _gid cookie stores information on how visitors use a website, while also creating an analytics report of the website’s performance. Some of the data that are collected include the number of visitors, their source, and the pages they visit anonymously. The cookie expires, unless erased by the user, after 1 day.
  3. _gat_gtag_UA_*: This cookie is set to store a unique user ID and expires after 1 minute.
  4. _ga_*: This cookie is set to store and count page views. The cookie expires, unless erased by the user, after one year, one month and four days.
